Show Notes for Episode 18 - Modern Folklore #3

Feb 3, 2019

Here's where we tell you how to find the recipe for the Old Fashioned, the tales we told, and the podcast we mentioned!

Also, we have a merch shop finally! Find it here:

The Booze:

The Old Fashioned
1 sugar cube (which is 3/4 to 1 tsp loose sugar)
2 oz rye or bourbon whiskey (we're using Maker's mark, which is a Kentucky bourbon)
2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters (some people like original, some orange, some a combo)
A splash of water
Garnish with Orange peel

Add the sugar to a glass, then add the bitters and just enough water to wet it down (the water is just there to help the bitters). You want it to dissolve completely - never just dump sugar into the drink. If you're using a sugar cube, crush and muddle it into the liquid. Some people just use simple syrup - whatever floats your boat. Experiment and see what you like to do. Then add a large ice cube or two (these melt more slowly), pour in the whiskey, and stir. Then, take your orange peel and twist it over the glass to get the oil into the drink. You can rub the peel over the rim for extra flavor if you'd like, and then drop it in.

We are giving away FREE STICKERS! If you want some, leave us a (hopefully nice so Lindsay doesn’t cry) review on iTunes, take a screenshot, email that and your mailing address to, and we will mail you some stickers for free! Also, once we hit 100 iTunes reviews, we'll release a bonus episode with a listener selected creature!

If you have any personal stories about creatures, monsters, or cryptids (even if you don't know what it was), please email us at so we can eventually do a listener episode!
